Social Media Block Is a Real Thing
You know writer’s block. “The condition of being unable to think of what to write or how to proceed with writing.”
Here’s my version:
Social media block: the condition of being unable to think of what to POST or how to proceed with POSTING.
Makes sense, right?!
It’s 9pm, you’re standing in your kitchen with your phone in your hand, and tomorrow’s post is still a blank screen. You’ve already posted the new arrivals. You’ve already done the behind-the-scenes shot. And you still owe the algorithm something by morning.
It Got Easier for Me, and It Still Happened
Posting got a lot easier once I figured out what our customers actually responded to and what they scrolled right past. I’ll be honest though, the blank-screen nights never fully went away. Some weeks I had 10 ideas. Some weeks I had zero and a store to open in the morning.
That’s why I stopped relying on remembering.
So I Made a List of Social Media Ideas
A few years ago I drew up 75 social media posting ideas for shop owners, printed it, and kept it where I’d actually see it.
Then I rebuilt it. There are now 100+ ideas, they’re organized by topic instead of dumped in one long list, and I added notes on each one so you’re not just reading a prompt and wondering what to do with it.
Print It. Stick It By the Register.
