Recently Featured: Independent Retailer and North Carolina Retail Merchants Association

When I started the Savvy Shopkeeper journey I knew I wanted to help other shop owners – the small boutique store owner who has to do everything and wear all of the hats.

On my about page it says “I look forward to sharing how I’ve been able to help build, market and manage a retail store with my sister—all on a budget.” and I mean that.

It’s not easy being a shop owner.  We juggle many tasks.  We have to learn MANY skills (because we can’t quite pay others to handle them at first).  We need to advertise on a tiny marketing budget.  I can go on and on.

So I went on a mission to start sharing what I know and what I’m learning along the way.  I also wanted to create memberships groups.

It’s paying off.  I’m honored that I was recently interviewed for an article about social media marketing and even more excited that I was PUBLISHED!

North Carolina Merchants Association and Independent Retailer

Independent Retailer

Independent Retailer interviewed me as one of the co-owners of The Salvaged Boutique for an article about “Retailers Who are Killing the Social Media Game”.

This was really an honor because I know many other retailers who have way more followers than us.  But it’s not always about quantity – you can make an impact and you can grow your business with the QUALITY of followers you have.

North Carolina Retail Merchants Association

I was also contacted by the North Carolina Retail Merchants Association (NCRMA)- they asked if they could share my article on reviewing your year-end numbers and planning for the next year.  That was an easy yes!

And my article was recently published in their Retailer publication.

NCRMA Published Article

Every state is different, but NCRMA is very involved in the retail community in their state.  They provide a slew of resources to their retailers and they help pass retail legislation in their state too.

It’s been one year since I started this journey. And I’ll admit it was a slow start but I feel like the list of articles I want to write and how much I want to share is endless. Not to mention courses, workshops, and other valuable resources I have in the works.  I’m looking forward to 2018!
