Optimize Your Personal Facebook profile to Advertise Your Shop

I spend a lot of time on Facebook.  Not for personal reasons – to be honest, I prefer Instagram – but I’ll save this conversation for another day.

I’m on Facebook often because I manage the Shopkeepers Lab group and a mastermind for brick and mortar store owners (Master Shopkeepers).

While navigating my own groups and others, I often find that users don’t have their Facebook Business Page listed on their personal profile.

If you are not optimizing your personal profile so that people immediately know what you do in your business, you are missing out.

Why You Should Optimize Your Personal Profile

Attraction marketing is the cheapest marketing you’ll ever find.

Shop owners can get so busy running the day-to-day operations that they don’t realize marketing comes in many formats. There are dozens of ways to market your business for FREE.

This simple addition to your personal profile is one of the ways.

How to Optimize Your Facebook Profile

How can you add your Facebook Page link to your profile?  See my screenshot below and follow these simple steps.

  1. Visit your personal profile.
  2. Click on “About”.
  3. Select “Work and Education”.
  4. Click on “Add a workplace”.
  5. Link up your Business Page and your title

It’s that simple.

Other Ways to Optimize Your Facebook Profile

Cover Photo – Facebook allows you to put an image as your cover photo on your Facebook personal profile. This is similar to your Facebook Business Page. You can add your logo or create a simple Canva graphic that highlights your business. Plus, you can add a caption that links to your website or Facebook Business Page from the cover photo.

Bio – You can write your own short Bio that appears on your Facebook Personal Profile. Why not use this space to promote your shop. You can write your title, a small description of your shop or provide links to your website here.

I know privacy is a concern for many people on Facebook.  But, this is your business so you should be its biggest cheerleader.
